A Birmingham door supervisor who faced a barrage of racial abuse has been recognised for his professionalism by National Pubwatch.
Tristan Price, 26, who works for Professional Security, has been awarded the Star Award for the professional and calm way he handled the incident at the Figure of Eight pub on Broad Street in May this year.
He said: “Fortunately I haven’t experienced a lot of racial abuse while working, so it came as a shock. But the best way to manage situations of this nature is to not rise to the bait and just do your job as well as you can, which is to keep people safe.
“I wasn’t expecting an award, so it’s come as a lovely surprise.”
National Pubwatch only offers Star Awards to those who have done outstanding work that supports the night time economy. National Pubwatch’s West Midlands representative Trevor Pepper said: “Tristan is an outstanding role model and richly deserves this award. It was very upsetting to watch the video of the abuse he had to endure and I’m glad that the female perpetrator has faced charges. He really is a star!”

Tristan was nominated for the award by his employer, Professional Security. Head of Operations North, Ben Levick, said: “Tristan really lived up to the ‘professional’ in our name and all of us at Professional Security are thrilled for him. He is an outstanding ambassador for our industry.”
In addition to his weekend door supervisor duties, Tristan is also a personal trainer having won two British power lifting championships in 2018 and 2019.
